This DIY electronics home security circuit provides an indication in case of gas leakage through LED and alarm. Four pin MQ6 gas sensor module is used to detect the presence of gas. This module requires only 5V DC. This module goes to high output when the gas level overcomes a threshold value. This reference value can be varied with the help of the preset present in the module. Circuit diagram of this useful electronics project is shown below.
In this DIY electronics project 555 Timer IC is wired as an astable vibrator to generate the tone. Initially timer IC is at reset state. When the sensor module detects certain amount of gas, high output produced by the sensor module is provided to the 4th pin of 555 IC. So it starts working as tone generator and its output will drive an LED. Transistor SL100 connected to the 3rd pin will drive 8Ω Speaker to produce alarm sound. Provide suitable heat-sink to the transistor. Resistors R4 and R5 are used to limit current to transistor and LED respectively. Variable preset VR1 can be used to change the pitch of the tone.
This electronics project circuit operates on a 9V battery supply. Zener diode is used to regulate the DC supply to 5V for the gas sensor module. Power the circuit and place it near the base of gas cylinder.
